Chiropractic Adjustments

Your body is an intricate network of systems that depend on clear communication to function well. At the center of this communication is your nervous system, a network of highways that carries signals between your brain and every organ, muscle, and cell. The spine protects this system, but when its joints lose proper alignment or motion, it can interfere with how your brain and body communicate—a problem called a subluxation. Left uncorrected, subluxations can contribute to pain, stiffness, and even dysfunction in other areas of health.

A chiropractic adjustment is a precise, hands-on movement of a joint designed to restore motion and alignment. When we adjust a vertebra, we move it in a specific direction to improve its relationship with other spinal segments and reduce stress on your nervous system. At Parnell Chiropractic, adjustments are tailored to your unique needs. We provide adjustments that are specific, safe, and performed with as little force and rotation as possible, even for babies and children. Our goal is simple: restore proper mechanics so your nervous system can do what it was designed to do—keep your body functioning at its best.

Applied Kinesiology

Your body tells a story—and Applied Kinesiology (AK) helps us listen. Developed in 1964 by Dr. George Goodheart, AK is a unique diagnostic and treatment approach that uses manual muscle testing to evaluate how well your body’s systems are working together.

Unlike traditional strength testing, AK focuses on how your nervous system adapts muscle function to changing conditions. Every muscle has connections to specific nerves, joints, and even correlations to organ systems. By testing how muscles respond under light resistance, we can detect sources of and corrections to dysfunction. This method is sometimes called “muscle testing as functional neurology” because it provides a window into how your brain and body communicate.

AK also recognizes the interconnectedness of the body. A muscle that appears weak may reflect not just a structural issue but also nutritional, chemical, or emotional stress. Through careful testing and evaluation, we identify where care is needed and determine the most effective way to support your body’s ability to heal.

Nutrition and Functional Support

True health isn’t just the absence of disease—it’s the ability of your body to adapt and function well every day. Many people feel “off” even when their diet is good or labs look normal. That’s where our nutritional and functional strategies come in. We take a proactive approach, identifying functional imbalances before they develop into more serious problems. This includes:

  • Dietary guidance: The foods you eat shape how your body functions. We help you identify what nourishes your system and what might be creating stress, offering practical, personalized recommendations to support healing and energy.

  • Nutritional and homeopathic supplements: Sometimes your body needs extra support to correct deficiencies or promote recovery. We recommend supplements carefully and only when they’re truly needed—always as a complement to healthy habits, not a replacement.

  • Functional assessments: Subtle patterns in posture, movement, and gait can create stress and limit your body’s potential. Our assessments uncover these imbalances and guide strategies to restore efficiency and balance in how you move.

  • Lab testing and interpretation: We look at lab results through a functional lens—focusing on how your systems are working together, not just whether you fall within “normal” ranges. This approach helps us spot early imbalances and address them before they grow beyond functional issues.
